Candace Cosentino
Founder of Cosentino Photography
Candace, Founder of Candace Cosentino Photography, introduces an inclusive and colourful approach to the world of photography and multimedia art. Her work grapples with questions of beauty and human nature while exploring themes in feminist pop culture. And her rental space, Cos Studios in Toronto, hosted local gallery viewings, community events and paid gigs for local artists until she was renovicted from her space in the Fall of 2022.
When she found BITS a year later in Fall 2023, she applied to Boot Camp and asked for help creating a foundation that could help her secure longevity in the studio space. Candace started her business soon after graduating with a BFA from Toronto Metropolitan University, but didn’t feel that her program equipped her with the business knowledge she needed.
At BITS we’ve met so many talented young folks like Candace with incredible talent who just need the right business education to find their way as entrepreneurs. So when we saw Candace’s application, we were eager to bring her in and fill the gap.
“I want to make a living as an artist, and that means propelling myself through business and entrepreneurship.”
– Candace Cosentino, Fall 2023
In Boot Camp Candace found a place where she could deepen and re-affirm the business knowledge she’d gathered through her own experience. She was on the right track but just needed a little extra support. And at BITS she found tangible feedback through her new mentor
Hammad Fasih, who she’s still connected with today. She found funding through BITS Bucks and received $5,000 to support her business. And she also built a network that landed her in her busiest freelance season just 4 months after graduating Boot Camp.
With more funding, more connections and more clients we know we’ll continue to see Candace and her business blossoming at home in the GTA. We’re so excited for the future of Candace Cosentino Photography and Cos Studios!
