THE STATE OF WORK

Youth are currently facing a number of barriers to finding meaningful employment

The Experience Trap

Fewer entry-level jobs will mean fewer opportunities for young people to gain the vital experience required to assimilate into the workforce.

Future Skill Sets

Employers are seeking candidates who show leadership, accountability, persuasiveness, and the ability to set goals and take risks.

The Gig Economy

The gig economy represents an ushering in of part-time and contract work, creating an environment ripe with opportunity for those who can navigate it.

Automation

46% of the Canadian workforce is at risk of being replaced by automation. This will likely be over represented in entry level jobs.

These factors will have an even greater effect on underserved populations.

Luckily,

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

can overcome these factors

But for some, starting a business has added barriers

Few Networks and Positive Role Models

Lack of Business Knowledge and Skills

Lack of Financial Support

Limited Access to Resources

This is where BITS comes in

ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS ARE BUILT TO INCLUDE OUR FOUR PILLARS OF SUCCESS:

Participants connect with like-minded and learn from young professionals with whom they share life experiences and speak with industry experts who can help them along their path.

Programs use accessible language and case studies. Activities promote learning through action. Participants engage in the real world by speaking to customers, partners and competitors.

From $500 to $5,000, BITS programs provide tailored funding opportunities that will support participants in both their business and professional development.

Program alumni gain access to complementary workshops, coworking space, and additional opportunities to keep them on track.
